Communication..the big c-word...normally, what comes to mind when someone mentions this word is a conversation...well, normallylah, unless your actually studying human communication..anyway, communication actually has, like, a lot more to it. Communication isn't just limited to speaking, there is also a thing called non-verbal communication. So what exactly is non-verbal communication? (i don't even know why i asked that question)Well, OBVIOUSLY, it's communication that does not involve words, instead, messages are conveyed through, well yeah, u guessed it, hand gestures, facial expressions, or eye contact, but thats not all... even clothing, hairstyles, ( I think I have a wicked hairstyle XP...*ahem* self praise ain't no praise, boy!!) and advertisements are forms of non-verbal communication. Like these for example, what message are they trying to convey to people?
So, I got really sick the other day,( sorry Mr. Murali, i missed Wednesday's class...trust me man, it was BAD!) and my throat was not functioning, seriously..I just could not speak, because it hurt so damn bad. Thats when I realised how we are able to find other ways to communicate with the people around us, for example, I used many hand gestures and signs (which made me feel like a fool) to try and tell people what I needed. Let's say if i needed a drink, i would ball my hand into a fist, stick out my thumb, and point it at my open mouth...it's basically the universal sign(i think ) for a drink, but try explaining that to a three year old kid! My little cousin actually thought I was being funny and started imitating me..while doing some weird rain dance thing which only a three-year-old would understand =.=" . I had to resort to writing notes on little pieces of paper to get my message across, that and a lot of nodding and frantic arm-waving.

Besides just hand gestures and funny facial stretches..pictures also are able to give out a strong message. Sometimes, pictures are so powerful they can bring about a change in people. This is why we see many advertisements which are so vivid and unique, they inspire and motivate a person to do something.
Therefore, the point I'm trying to make is that non-verbal communication is as effective as conversational communication. In fact, a lot of the time it is
much more powerful than communication of the verbal kind, indeed, a picture holds a thousand words. Ah, well, enough said,(mainly because I can't think straight as it's 2.30 a.m.), until my next, fare thee well(and fare me well, man I'm tired).
