# three

first off, a special thanks to Kenny who suggested this topic to me after i've been trying to look for the word panda in different languages and fail miserably.

secondly, lack of posts due to my Islamic Studies finals.

so, borrowed words. also known as loan words, are words that are "borrowed" from other languages.

you see, some English words, aren't really English. take kidnap for example. kidnap is an English word borrowed from Danish, which means to take a child. or elope from Dutch which means to run away and get married. and the most famous loan word is a la carte. a French word which means from the menu.

so, how many loan words exactly are there in English? from the research i've done, a lot. like, a lot, a lot.

i swear, i didn't know dinosaur was Greek and not English! haha and who knew alligator was actually Spanish! and oh my god! giraffe is Arabic!? since when!?

you see, in a way, even though you speak a different language from the person next to you, always know that language is universal and everyone uses it. though it's different (:
